Big Couples
Overview: This is a twist on the traditional Big Brothers Big Sisters program. What makes this version unique is that you get to volunteer with a partner. Two mentors (Bigs) and one mentee (Little) spend time together building a friendship based on trust, support, common interests, and fun! Bigs and Littles participate in a variety of activities – everything from riding bikes, skating, reading, working on homework, cooking, playing video games to just talking and sharing with each other.
Mentees: Anyone between the age of 6 and 18. These kids just need a little extra support
Mentors: Anyone over the age of 18 who cares about kids
Minimum Commitment: On average 3 hours every week or every second week
Availability: Edmonton, Strathcona County, Parkland County, Cold Lake, Lac La Biche, Morinville, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, & Vegreville
Where: In the community at sporting events, festivals, coffee shops, swimming pools, libraries etc
When: Evenings and/or weekends when the mentor and mentee are both available
*Note: When applying for a couples match, each individual will have to apply separately and will need to book their interviews individually.
